This charity event will help fund C.A.R.E.S. Prevention programs going for another year.
Here's what's happening with C.A.R.E.S. this year:
The Kaleidoscope Project- this summer TKP will host The Kaleidoscope Expo, an LGBTQ resource, business, and services expo. More info to follow!
C.A.R.E.S. for Heroes- starting in February, CFH will take a small group of vets to a rope challenge course where they will work together to overcome obstacles. During this experience, they will also have the opportunity to speak with a therapist, learn about other resources in the SWFL area, and meet other veterans who understand how they are feeling.
America C.A.R.E.S. About Bullying- starting this spring, ACAB will work with a number of high school student volunteers to present an anti-bullying play to elementary aged children. This free school program will have a takeaway coloring book for students and a lesson guide for teachers to use as follow up.
Survivors Stepping Out 5k Walk- this year C.A.R.E.S. will focus on prevention and move the SSO walk to Saturday, September 15. We will have more information on this in the coming weeks!
A.I.D.E. Presentations- C.A.R.E.S. tailors prevention programs to your group in an effort to help start a conversation that could lead to saving someone's life. These programs are free!
Financial Assistance Program- C.A.R.E.S. is always happy to be of service to the SWFL community. If a person believes they may harm themselves and would like therapy, but are unable to pay for it, we can help! We are also here to help survivors, those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. We work with a network of mental health professionals at little to no cost to the person seeking assistance. And all inquiries are confidential.

This exciting night of dancing and donations will help C.A.R.E.S to prevent suicides in the Southwest Florida area. Lee County saw 74 deaths by suicide as of Nov 14, 2017. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death nationwide. C.A.R.E.S. seeks to be more visible in an effort to connect someone in crisis with the help they need. Together, with your support, we can reduce that number every year.
